Time at Woodpine
Production Designer | Set Decorator | Set Designer

Designing and working on this project was a humbling experience. The story of "Time at Woodpine" takes place moments before 9/11 and resonated deeply with me and evoked many emotions. Amidst the set's design and construction I faced a terrible car accident that tested me both physically and emotionally. Despite the challenges, my team's unwavering support and patience were pivotal. Half of the shoot occurred on a boarding room constructed set, while the remainder was on location, requiring us to source era-specific furniture. The exterior of the home was a craftsman-style home, so our paint color was selected in keeping historical accuracy in mind (along with the moldings and trims). We also had to replicate the location hall in the build so that sets wove seamlessly.
I can't thank this crew enough for their unwavering support. Despite having lupus and struggling with her chronic illness, our director, Hannah de Groot, was an amazing ally and influential leader. She gave me the push to persevere. Fortunately, the arrival of the her brother, a skilled builder, bolstered our efforts and brought the project to fruition. At its wrap, this project gifted a moment of closure and a sense of fulfillment, forcing our team to reflect on our collective childhood memories of 9/11 and the resilience displayed during trying times.
